Warriors Hosts Clippers
With just three games remaining in the regular season, the Warriors will look to get back in the win column when they host the
Los Angeles Clippers at ORACLE Arena on Saturday night. A limited number of tickets are still available for this contest, which will also be broadcast on Comcast SportsNet (HD) and KNBR 680.
The Warriors will head into the game knowing that they must win to remain in the thick of the Western Conference playoff hunt. Golden State dropped a 114-105 contest to the Nuggets on Thursday, a game that was equally important for both clubs. The Nuggets' win moved them one full game ahead of the Warriors for the eighth and final playoff spot in the West. Baron Davis notched a triple-double for Golden State and Monta Ellis finished with 29 points, but it was not enough to secure victory from the visiting Nuggets.
With Denver owning the tiebreaker over Golden State, the Warriors must finish two games better than the Nuggets the rest of the way. Denver will close out their season with games at Utah (4/12), vs. Houston (4/13) and vs. Memphis (4/16)...a schedule that will be challenging to say the very least. At the same time, the Warriors know that they must handle their own business, and beating the Clippers will be their main focus on Saturday.
Golden State has taken two out of three match-ups from the Los Angeles Clippers thus far in the season, and a win would give them their first season series victory over L.A. since the 1998-99 season. The teams last met on March 19 in L.A. , with the Warriors winning a 116-100 contest. And while the last two victories over their Pacific Division foe were satisfying, a win on Saturday would be even more important.
Following Saturday's contest, the Warriors will hit the road to face Phoenix on Monday. Fans can catch all the action at the Warriors Road Viewer Party at the Hilton Oakland Airport. After playing in Phoenix, the Warriors will return home to close out the regular season against the Seattle SuperSonics on Wednesday, April 16.
